We thought long and hard about a name for the company as we wanted something that spoke about our obsession with helping customers with their needs.
Alfred Vaughan & CoWhat's in a name ...?
Paul (B) said that it reminded him of how his father, Ron ran his engineering firm in Wolverhampton (RF & BW Brookes t/a Alfred Vaughan & Co) when he was in partnership with Paul’s uncle Bryan. Their firm had its roots going back to the 19th century as brass founders serving the brewery and plumbing industries, and it was this heritage and that they’d stop at nothing to solve their customers problems, that the name was re-born.
Now...What we believe
The firm’s name was often shorted to Vaughans so that’s our trading style. They used to manufacture brass pub door handles that are still around today so we like to think that we too will be ‘opening doors’ for years to come as they did.
Access to Commercial Funding should be easy.
Easy for the client, the funder and the broker and from this shared vision, Vaughans was conceived at the end of 2021.

With over 50 years experience helping businesses, both as relationship managers and team leaders, we decided the time was right to set up our firm to make the most our skills, expertise and network and to give even more back to the communities in which we operate.
A thorough understanding of what customers really want, especially when they require funding has allowed us to build a firm from the ground up that is completely centred around providing client solutions with impact.
How we roll …
We are not about corporate structures, titles or hierarchy but we are about helping people and businesses survive, thrive and grow in a simple, straightforward, honest and easy manner. We get a kick out of seeing the people we work with do well and this underpins the reason we exist.

1900’s
October 1918
Alfred Vaughan Founded
Alfred Vaughan, a sole trader, registers the firms name ‘Alfred Vaughan & Co’, based in Stewart Street, Wolverhampton.
1933
Change of Ownership
Firm is now owned by George Joseph Morrison, still trading as Alfred Vaughan & Co.
1972
New Owners
Ron and Brian Brookes buy the firm from H & A Morrison, now trading from Cartwright Street Wolverhampton, they continue to trade as Alfred Vaughan & Co.
1989
New Staff
Paul Brookes joins ‘Vaughans’ at the factory with his dad, uncle and grandad to earn some pocket money.
1997
End of an era
Firm closes and factory premises at Cartwright Street sold due to ill health.
2000’s
2021
September
Alfred Vaughan & Co Ltd Founded
Alfred Vaughan & Co Limited is registered at companies house and the name is re-born after 24 years – here to ‘open doors’ yet again for UK business.
2022
July
Alfred Vaughan and Co Limited become directly authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority under FRN 966356.
They also become full members of the National Association of Commercial Finance Brokers (NACFB), member number 3034.
2023
July
Vaughans become one of the first Commercial Brokers In the UK to achieve Approved Member status of National Association of Commercial Finance Brokers (NACFB).
2025
September
Alfred Vaughan and Co Limited were Highly Commended at the National NACFB Commercial Broker Awards, Commercial Broker Network of the Year 2025, finishing ahead of well-established Networks after – just 4 years after launch.

Whichever lender we introduce you to we will receive commission from. Different lenders pay different amounts based on different commission models and interest amounts.
